Emily Speed writes on Axis about her residency at the WSW:

“I had written ‘Unfolding Architecture’, a short story or allegory, alongside my studio practice during my MA Drawing at Wimbledon College of Art in 2006. A couple of months after graduating I saw the Artist’s Book Residency at Women’s Studio Workshop (WSW) advertised on the Axis noticeboard, with only a few days left before the postmark deadline. Although the application process is pretty demanding; making a model of your proposed book along with all the usual materials, I had such a strong feeling about the residency that I had to apply. I spent a couple of days surrounded by balsa wood, building boxes (this story has always been housed in a miniature skyscraper in my head) and eventually settled on the proportions and made a concertina book to go inside.
