This summer WSW is holding a 5 day long clay camp for Teens & Tweens right here in Rosendale!
Hudson Valley Ceramicist Mary Beth Wehrung (see her recipe for Baby Sea Dragon Salad below) will guide students through a variety of processes, starting with stretches and exercises to prepare students for the bodily experience of manipulating, forming and molding clay vessels and sculptural figures. Students will have a blast creating their own unique bowls, pots, animal figures, totems, beads, or anything else they can imagine! The workshop will also develop connections between clay and nature, by using sketches from nature as inspiration for ceramic forms and through nature prints. Handbuilding, pinching, coiling, and supervised wheel throwing will be explored, with plenty of room for guided exploration within the student’s individual interests.
Class will be held from 9 am – 12 pm in our airy summer clay studio and outdoors to let students enjoy the summer and while they get their hands dirty with an exciting immersion in the art and craft of ceramics!
July 6th-10th, 9 am- 12 pm. Call the workshop (845.658.9133) or email us to register.
5 day camp costs $175, $195 non-members. Tuition includes 50lbs clay and firing fees. Enroll a second student from your household for $150. Non-refundable $100 deposit due upon registration.
