Thea Eck was an intern at Women’s Studio Workshop in the spring of 2004. She had graduated from Alfred where she studied ceramic sculpture, installation and art theory. After leaving WSW did an MFA at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (they have just become a new repository of our artists’ books). From 2008-2009, Eck completed a research fellowship at the Arctic Institute in Copenhagen Denmark. Her culminating exhibition, Angalavaa: An Archive Tale, received an Artist Grant from the United States Embassy in Denmark. The piece she donated to this years auction is from a series entitled It Is Never Tomorrow completed during a research grant at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England.
The bidding has begun! Don’t forget to check in with us over the weekend to see how your favorite pieces of art are doing. We have 30 gems donated by WSW artist alumnae that would look fabulous hanging on your walls!
Remember, every bid you place will will drive us closer toward our fundraising goals. By bidding, you’re directly supporting WSW’s artist residencies and youth art-in-education programming.
