SAI Kicks off with Tyanna Buie’s Painterly Approach to Screen Printing

Tyanna Buie’s unconventional and painterly approach to screen printing stood out during her residency at WSW last summer. Now she is back to teach a class for the Summer Arts Institute. Her teaching methods relate directly to her studio work, which include a mix of photo shop and handmade elements from her personal life.

Most of Tyanna’s previous teaching experience has been in a university setting. She is enjoying the smaller class setting that SAI offers in which the class becomes more like an artistic collaboration. Every student brings their own set of tools and knowledge to the class, learning new techniques and sharing their own. She emphasizes that each student make work that is truly meaningful to them!
