www.tatanakellner.comTatana made paper every day for 10 years when WSW produced a line of handmade paper that we marketed in craft shows. She worked with every known fiber and then actively led the testing of WSW”s ArtFarm fibers. She knows her stuff, loves to teach and runs an excellent class.
August 12-16, 2013
In this workshop students will be introduced to a wide range of papermaking techniques available for two- dimensional expression. We will begin with western paper sheet forming and rapidly progress to cover basic paper chemistry, coloring, layering, laminating, embedding and pulp painting, to establish a vocabulary of techniques to draw upon to create unique paper pieces. The third day will introduce students to eastern papermaking fibers and how their characteristics differ from Western papermaking. This knowledge will allow students to select the methods best suited to their aesthetic preferences. The emphasis in this class is on experimenting and discovering how this incredibly flexible medium can add to each artist’s creative expression. No previous experience in papermaking required.
